everything you need to know about lawsuit.run - the decentralized platform for betting on legal outcomes

what is lawsuit.run?

lawsuit.run is a decentralized prediction market built on Solana that allows users to place bets on the outcomes of real-world lawsuits. Whether it's a tech giant facing antitrust charges, celebrity legal battles, or landmark cases that could shape future legislation - you can bet on the verdict.

Unlike traditional betting platforms, lawsuit.run operates entirely through smart contracts. There's no house, no middleman, and no one taking a cut. Winners split the entire pool proportionally based on their stake.

how it works

1. connect your wallet

Use any Solana-compatible wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, etc.) to connect to the platform. Your wallet is your identity - no signup required.

2. browse active lawsuits

Explore trending cases, filter by category, search by parties involved, or check out high-value pools. Each case shows current odds, total pool size, and betting deadline.

3. choose your prediction

Select one of three outcomes: Plaintiff Wins, Defendant Wins, or Settlement. Enter your bet amount and see your potential payout before confirming.

4. wait for the verdict

Once the case is resolved, the admin marks the correct outcome. Smart contracts automatically distribute winnings to all correct bettors proportionally.

payout structure

Payouts are calculated based on the total pool and the winning side's share. Here's the formula:

Total Pool = Plaintiff Bets + Defendant Bets + Settlement Bets

Your Payout = (Your Bet / Winning Side Total) × Total Pool

Example: If the total pool is 1000 SOL, you bet 100 SOL on plaintiff, and plaintiff wins with 400 SOL total, your payout is (100/400) × 1000 = 250 SOL (150 SOL profit).

frequently asked questions

Is this legal?

Prediction markets exist in a legal gray area. lawsuit.run operates as a decentralized protocol without a central operator. Always check your local laws before participating.

What happens if a case is dismissed or appealed?

Each case page specifies the resolution criteria. Typically, we resolve based on the first verdict. If a case is dismissed before trial, it may be marked as "settlement" or refunded.

Can I withdraw my bet?

No. Once a bet is placed, it's final. This ensures pool stability and fair odds for all participants.

How do you determine the correct outcome?

Platform administrators mark outcomes based on official court documents and public records. We use multiple sources to verify results before distribution.

What cryptocurrencies can I use?

Currently only SOL (Solana) is supported. We may add USDC and other SPL tokens in the future.
